The Maupin Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing beginning at 6:00 p.m. on June 14, 2022, at the Maupin Civic Center and via videoconference. The purpose of the hearing is to consider an application submitted by Mr. Tim Thornton of SGID LLC proposing a Comprehensive Plan/Zoning Map Amendment to designate a 4.93-acre parcel Recreational Commercial. The parcel is currently zoned Industrial and is the location of the River Drifters rafting company at 600 Timber Lane. A separate hearing will be held to consider a proposed amendment to the text of the Zoning Ordinance to allow Boarding Houses as a conditional use in the Recreational Commercial Zone, primarily for the housing of recreational workers. Boarding houses are currently referenced in the Zoning Ordinance but are not defined nor specifically allowed in any zone. Hearings are to be held concurrently to consider both requests.
